On Beauty and Worth

June 5, 2001

Tonight I finally finshed planting the flowers for my deck pots. Twenty four of the large ever-bloom begonias have found their way into twenty different pots, mixed with impatiens, lobelia and some with petunias.

I was so stunned with the flowers that I started photographing them before any of them were moved to their new homes.

Then the rains came - and came - and came - and came.

I snuck out between showers and planted and photographed, and the camera waits for new blossoms.

The deepest reds and oranges did not photograph well, I think because they overwhelmed the focus and light meter systems of my camera. Happy with the colors I was able to capture, I leave the reds and orange to another day....

and for all of you, another flower.
